Green Beans (fresh from the garden)

1/2 gallon green beans

1 large piece of ham hock or, 6-8 slices hog jowl

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Break green beans into bite size pieces.  Wash thoroughly, and place in 4 quart stock pot.  Cover with water 2 inches over the beans.  Add seasoning, cover and bring to a boil over high heat.  Reduce heat to medium low and cook for at least 2 hours or until beans are tender.
