Pear Preserves Cake w/Honey Pineapple Glaze

Psalms 36:6 Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.

My {Dana} husband loves pear preserves.

Luckily, my Daddy and Mama have an orchard with several pear trees (as well as a variety of apple trees) and every summer we pick loads of pears so I can make pear preserves.

Anyway, I had a box of yellow cake mix in the cabinet and was wondering what kind of cake I could bake besides the boring yellow cake.

So, I got to snooping through my cabinets and came across all kinds of pear preserves from last year.

And I thought to myself, “Self, you better be getting rid of these before it’s time to make another batch”  And then it hit me, why not bake a Pear Preserves Cake.

The result is as follows.

Sorry there are no pics , but I wasn’t sure how this would turn out so I didn’t make any.

If you make this cake and make pics please send them to me at southerngalscook@yahoo.com and I will attach them to the post!

Thanks!

    1. Hi Michelle. Sometimes I will put ground cloves in my pear preserves just to have a little something different every now and then. Doesn’t take much, just enough to give a little “spice!” But if you want to make the cake you can use just regular pear preserves and add about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon (to taste) ground cloves to your batter. Hope this helps.
      Happy baking:)

    1. Thanks so much for the kind words Bz. And to answer your question ….. I can’t even remember how many tries it took me to get it just right. Maybe two or three?!? At my age it’s hard to remember, especially if it’s been longer than a couple of days! LOL

  3. After MUCH searching for a pear preserves cake, I FINALLY found yours’ …others didn’t sound right here or there- usually not enough pear preserves. I have made your cake and IT WAS FABULOUS. Am going to be making it again today. I did a different topping before (where I mixed pear preserves with icing).
ANYway, just wanted to THANK YOU for the recipe. Also, love your blog!
