This cake comes with two frostings, so pick your favorite and enjoy!
What’cha need!
- 2 cups white sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup Coca-Cola (RC or Pepsi can be used)
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 3 tbls cocoa
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Let’s make it!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×13 inch pan, set aside.
STEP ONE: In a mixing bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
STEP TWO: Mix together eggs and buttermilk, set aside.
STEP THREE: In a 2-quart saucepan, bring coke, oil, butter and cocoa to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract, stir thoroughly.
STEP FOUR: Mix together, flour mixture and buttermilk mixture. Slowly combine coke mixture with flour and buttermilk mixture until just blended.
STEP FIVE: Pour into 9×13 inch pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Coca-Cola Cake Frosting
Let’s make it!
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/4 cup Hershey Chocolate Syrup
- 1/4 cup Coca-Cola (RC or Pepsi, whichever you prefer)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups powdered sugar
In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and cocoa until smooth. Add the cola, chocolate syrup, and vanilla, and mix until well combined. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Spread evenly over top of cooled cake and serve!
Cooked Fudge Frosting
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 tsp butter
Mix sugar and cocoa together in a saucepan. Stir in milk, add butter. Cook over low heat and stir until butter melts. Continue to cook over low heat until mixture comes to a rapid boil. Let boil 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat, add vanilla, stir until combined. Continue to stir until frosting begins to thicken. Pour over cake. Let cool and serve.
