1 Corinthians 9:10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
Luke 17:7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

Growing a garden can feel like a daunting task to say the least, but the rewards at harvest time make all the effort worthwhile.
I can’t recall a time when my dad didn’t have a garden. Growing up, gardens seemed to be everywhere I turned. It felt like every member of my family had a garden (and tobacco fields, ugh)!
I remember when Grandmother would be out in her garden early in the morning, before 6 a.m., hoeing weeds. She always wore a dress and apron, hardly ever pants. I also fondly recall my Daddy plowing his garden with a tractor affectionately referred to as the “Little A.”
Actually, it’s an International Harvester McCormick Farmall Super A

Seems forever ago that my Daddy used the Little A to plow his garden. He passed away in 2012.
This year, the Little A is at our house, and my husband is using it to plow our garden.
THIS MAKES MY HEART SMILE:)

We’ve estimated that the tractor was made in the late 1940s or early 1950s. If anyone can pinpoint the exact year, please let me know.

It still plows just as well today as it did when my Daddy used it for many years!

I love this little tractor and the man plowing with it!

As I was snapping these photos, I spotted a few tiny squashes already growing on the vines.

I need to keep a close eye on these over the next few days. They’ll be ready to harvest soon. Squash grows so fast, almost overnight!

This is my son Landon doing what he does best—showing off! How about those muck boots paired with shorts? Crazy kid… but you’ve gotta love him!

Of course, when Mo and Osa, two of our spoiled dogs, saw me taking pictures, they had to have their picture taken too!

Mo is on the left, Osa on the right; Mother and Son. Osa is a Great Pyrenees and Mo is a Great Pyrenees and ? mix.

Mo might look intimidating, but the worst he’ll do is lick you to death! He’s an absolute sweetheart who loves attention. His paws are as big as my hand, and when he stands on his hind legs, he’s as tall as me at 5’6″!

Mo is so funny when he sticks his tongue out at you! Love his sweet little heart!

Sometimes, he doesn’t hold back! Right here, he’s clearly saying, “Put that camera down and pet me!”
Osa is truly a lady with a gentle soul. She enjoys attention too, but she’s not as bold about it as Mo.

Note: The rock grave behind Osa marks the resting place of our beloved Izzy, our chocolate lab who passed away last fall.
Osa is also a prancer. Isn’t she beautiful?

And then there’s Bandit. He’s the most spoiled of them all. He lives in the house with us and has no idea he’s a dog!

Bandit is Mini Aussie Shepherd. Mr. Personality has all of us wrapped about his sweet little paws!
Here are our goats and cows.

This is just a few of our chickens getting ready to roost for the night.

As you can see, life on our farm keeps us very busy, and we absolutely adore and spoil all our animals. I hope I haven’t bored you too much with my ramblings, but I do hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know some of our farm critters, all of whom give me my smiling heart.
God Bless You,
Dana
