We are Sad!

Southern Gals Cook is very sad!  We have begged and begged for comments and feedback on our recipes but to date we have only one.  Thank you Tammy Smith for taking the time to share with us.  So, here we are again reaching out to whom ever will share.  If you look at, read, try or share any of our recipes or blog entries please, please, please give us some feedback.  We so desperately need it!  We would like to know your thoughts on how we can improve our site.  We want it to be user-friendly for you so you will visit more often.  Please let us know what types of recipes you might like to see on our site.  Do you have questions about cooking, baking or gardening or just anything in general (G-rated, of course)?  Please ask us and if we don’t know the answer we will try and find an answer for you.  We can not grow and learn if we don’t get the feedback and support we need!  We look forward to hearing from you and we will not abuse your information.  It is strictly for our use only!  Thanks so much for your continued support and we do hope you will get involved!

  1. My husband and I are planning our first garden. I have dreams of canning but have never done it before. I got a canner for Christmas this past year. Do you have any tips or recipes that would be good for a first time canner/gardener?

    1. Tangi,
I love to can/freeze my own food, that way I know what goes in it. It is a dying art and I am soooo glad that you have decided to try your hand at it, hopefully you can pass it own to your children and your children’s children for years to come. I will be posting more about canning/freezing as the season progresses so keep watching. However, if you need help with anything at all please don’t hesitate to ask me I will be more than happy to help you out.
      Thanks,
      Dana

  2. I didn’t know you had chickens! We’re planning to get a coop built pretty soon. How many chickens do you have to get 8-10 eggs per day? I’d love for you guys to post some egg recipes and canning info too! I’ve had a garden for several years on and off, but have never canned. I’m going to tackle that this summer!

    1. Hey Jennifer,
So glad to hear from you. We have 2 roosters and about 10 or 12 hens (I forget) and we get about 8-10 eggs a day. We mainly have Rhode Island Reds and we love getting fresh eggs. As for the canning and freezing info …. that will be coming this summer. As our produce comes in and I start canning and freezing I will post. Until then, good luck with everything and if you have any questions just let us know! And thanks for sharing with us, we so appreciate it!
