Heavily sweetened recipes tend to foam when cooking.  So, make sure you choose a pot with at least four times the capacity of the food being cooked in it so it wont “foam over” and make your stove top all sticky.

However, you can add about a 1/2 teaspoon of butter to jam and jelly mixtures to help prevent some of the foaming during the cooking process.
